Tata Group-owned airlines Air India is expanding its fleet and operations. In this series, the airline plans to recruit 4,200 cabin crew and 900 pilots this year.
The announcement came as the airline placed orders for 470 aircraft, including 70 widebody aircraft, from Boeing and Airbus.
Air India was acquired by the Tata Group in January 2022. The airline also plans to lease 36 aircraft. Two of them B777-200LR have already been introduced.

Between May 2022 and February 2023, the airline hired 1,900 cabin crew. In the last seven months (between July 2022 and January 2023), more than 1,000 personnel have been trained. In the last three months, the airline has trained and prepared around 500 personnel.
Sandeep Verma, Head of Inflight Services at Air India, said that the airline is ready to give a chance to new entrants and the airline is also looking to increase the staff of pilots and maintenance engineers.
