Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that health camps have been set up in many places in the state of Kerala so that diseases can be detected early and there is no need to face problems in the future.
Kerala State Health Minister Veena George revealed that while nearly 80 lakh people in Kerala were tested for lifestyle diseases, 20 percent of them were found to have hypertension and diabetes.
Veena George said that health camps have been organized in many places in the state so that diseases can be detected early and precautions are needed to avoid any problems in the future. She said that lifestyle diseases and cancer can be cured without any difficulty.
The minister revealed that about 80 lakh people were tested and 20 percent of them were found to be at risk of developing serious diseases.

George said that this screening was done across the state as part of the government’s program to detect and treat more than 5 lakh people with cancer.
The budget for this scheme is Rs.10 crore.
Minister said that Rs 10 crore has been allocated in the budget for the only scheme in the country for the control of lifestyle diseases and related programmes.
She said that the campaign started by the state to prevent lifestyle diseases and screenings has become a role model in the health sector in the country, and with the help of e-health, an app has also been developed for door-to-door screening of people above 30 years of age.

Total 79,41,962 people screened so far, 19.97 per cent (15,86,661) were in the risk factor group for any serious illness, 11.02 per cent (8,75,236) were diagnosed with hypertension, 8.88 per cent (7,05,475)) with diabetes.
3.88 percent (3,08,825) were found to have both. A cancer screening dashboard has also been developed as part of the cancer control strategy, through which 6.49 per cent (5,15,938) of suspected cancer cases have been referred, the minister said.
