365Telugu.com online news, Hyderabad, January 18th, 2025: The Indian EdTech sector is playing a vital role in bridging the geographical divide in education and making quality learning accessible to millions across the country.
According to a new report by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Grant Thornton Bharat, an overwhelming 98% of teachers and 69% of parents recognize the sector’s impact in overcoming geographical barriers in education.
The report, titled ‘Impact Study of EdTech in India: Driving Innovation & Creating Opportunities’, was released at the India Digital Summit (IDS). This research is supported by Leadsquared and Infinity Learn.
The report highlights that EdTech platforms have revolutionized education by providing access to high-quality learning resources, courses, and services that might not be available locally.
These platforms offer video lectures, interactive modules, and virtual classrooms, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds receive top-notch education, irrespective of their geographical location.
Moreover, the report underscores that 94% of students and 84% of teachers find EdTech content engaging. These platforms are also narrowing the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands, fostering employability and contributing to India’s vision of an inclusive, future-ready education system.
In terms of impact, the study revealed that 85% of students credit EdTech with improving their learning outcomes. Additionally, 86% of users appreciate the affordability of EdTech courses, and 87% of students recognize its importance in equipping them with real-world skills such as coding and AI-key competencies for today’s workforce.
The report emphasizes the Indian EdTech sector’s commitment to improving accessibility, particularly in rural and underserved regions. It highlights that 98% of teachers see EdTech as a tool for delivering quality education to learners from marginalized backgrounds.
Furthermore, 61% of students acknowledge the availability of content in regional languages, though challenges like connectivity issues and a lack of support for learners with special needs still persist, presenting opportunities for future innovation.
The EdTech sector’s evolution aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for personalized, multidisciplinary learning and the seamless integration of technology in education.
Through interactive content and flexible learning models, EdTech platforms are turning these principles into tangible results.
The report also includes key recommendations for the sector, urging a revision of the 18% GST on EdTech services to enhance affordability. Other suggestions include the introduction of targeted subsidies, promotion of public-private collaborations, and adoption of hybrid learning models.
Furthermore, it stresses the importance of prioritizing last-mile solutions such as offline access and regional language content, while ensuring ethical AI practices and improving cybersecurity to safeguard users.
Mr. Prateek Maheshwari, Co-Founder of PhysicsWallah (PW) and Chair of the India EdTech Consortium (IEC), remarked, “While the dropout rate in schools has been concerning, the rise in smartphone accessibility is opening new doors for EdTech to take education to remote corners of the country.
However, the sector must focus on overcoming hurdles like bandwidth limitations and data privacy concerns.”
Mr. Dharmender Jhamb, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, commented, “Technology is essential to modern education, but its impact can be maximized only when accompanied by a supportive learning environment. The EdTech sector is revolutionizing education delivery and fostering a more equitable knowledge economy.”
Mr. Prashant Singh, COO and Co-founder of LeadSquared, emphasized, “EdTech is democratizing learning by offering essential skills in AI and coding, which are crucial for today’s workforce. Through our partnerships with educational institutions, we have empowered educators and learners, enhancing the learning experience and outcomes.”
Mr. Ujjwal Singh, Founding CEO of Infinity Learn by Sri Chaitanya, added, “We are proud to support the EdTech ecosystem, offering quality, accessible education through hybrid learning models. Our aim is to empower students to succeed without the need to relocate, ensuring that education reaches every corner of the country.”
The report reveals the growing dependence on EdTech platforms for academic success and highlights the sector’s commitment to addressing the unique needs of learners through innovation and personalized education.
