365Telugu.com Online News,Islamabad, October 11, 2022: Pakistan is reeling due to severe floods. Malaria and viral fevers are contagious. Pakistan’s Ministry of Health has offered to purchase more than 6 million mosquito nets from India to prevent these diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) is using financial resources provided by the Global Fund to procure mosquito nets for Pakistan. WHO officials said that they are planning to get mosquito nets as soon as possible.

More than 1,700 people have died and 33 million have been displaced after floods in Pakistan since mid-June caused by heavy rains. A third of the country was submerged. In September, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the rise of diseases such as malaria could cause a “second catastrophe”.

The WHO warned last week that by January 2023, there could be 2.7 million malaria cases in Pakistan’s 32 flood-affected districts. Malaria is spreading rapidly in the country’s 32 flood-affected districts, where thousands of children have succumbed to mosquito-borne diseases. Pakistan’s health ministry had sought permission to buy mosquito nets from India last month, the report said.

The official said that the Global Fund has been requested for the installation of mosquito nets in the 26 most affected districts of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan where cases of Plasmodium falciparum have been reported. In response, the Pakistani government placed an order to purchase these mosquito nets from India, if such action was not approved. India-Pakistan relations have been strained due to the Kashmir issue and terrorism on Pakistan’s borders.

Bilateral relations soured after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, abrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019. Following India’s decision, Pakistan cut diplomatic ties with New Delhi and expelled the Indian ambassador. Since then, trade relations between Pakistan and India have been largely frozen.
