365Telugu.com Online News, India, March 9th, 2023: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is soon to launch 4G in India. The company aims to launch commercial 4G services next month i.e. April.
For this, the Indian telecom company is procuring equipment from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Last month, the BSNL board approved a contract worth around Rs 24,500 crore for equipment from a TCS-led consortium.
BSNL expects its revenue to increase by 20% after the launch of 4G in India. BSNL uses such devices for 4G which can also be upgraded from 4G to 5G.
BSNL 4G trial starts from Punjab
According to media reports, BSNL is pre-ordering equipment for 200 sites to enable 4G in three districts of Punjab. These districts include Ferozepur, Amritsar and Pathankot. This is a part of BSNL’s pilot project to launch 4G.
But the government has to approve the final tender of TCS. The government’s approval to award the full tender of one lakh 4G sites to TCS may be received by the end of March. The company will start a trial for these services from Punjab.
The launch is likely to happen in April 2023
TCS-owned Tejas Networks has already supplied equipment to around 50 sites for which C-DOT (Center for Development of Telematics) can implement the software patch upgrade.
According to government officials, around 100 sites are expected to be ready for the 4G launch by mid-March. If all goes according to plan, BSNL 4G commercial launch will happen in April 2023. In an earlier tweet, BSNL India confirmed that it will launch 4G in the second half of 2023.
BSNL’s revenue from 4G will increase by 20%
The Department of Telecom (DoT) is expected to get approval from the government in early March. After its arrival, TCS can issue purchase order (PO) for 4G equipment to more than 1 lakh sites.
BSNL expects its revenue to increase by 20% after the launch of 4G in India. Minister of State for Communications Dev Singh Chauhan also said that the implementation of the relief package will make BSNL profitable from the financial year 2026-27.
BSNL will upgrade from 4G to 5G
Government has given BSNL a revival package in 2022. This package is worth Rs. 1.64 lakh crore, focusing on debt restructuring from the financial sheet BSNL will also help with 4G, 5G rollout. BSNL uses such devices for 4G which can also be upgraded from 4G to 5G.
