A Century of Growth and Innovation

Reflecting on the journey, Mr. Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO of Berger Paints India Ltd, stated, “From our inception in Bengal to reaching our centenary milestone, we have remained committed to the state’s economic progress.

Unlike many businesses that relocated, we have strengthened our presence in Bengal, evolving into the second-largest player in the market by capitalization.”

Founded in 1923 with a modest facility in Howrah, Berger Paints has grown into a global leader, now ranked as the 7th largest architectural coatings company worldwide.

The company has played a vital role in some of India’s most prestigious projects, from painting the Indian Parliament House and Vande Bharat trains to the Kolkata Metro and Wankhede Stadium.

A Platinum-certified LEED green building, the headquarters is largely powered by solar energy, reinforcing Berger Paints’ commitment to environmental responsibility.

Unwavering Commitment to Bengal

Berger Paints has grown from an INR 100-crore entity to a multinational powerhouse with revenues exceeding INR 12,000 crores. The company aims to double its revenue to INR 20,000 crores by 2030.

It currently operates 29 manufacturing facilities across India, Nepal, Poland, and Russia, with three major units in Bengal.

In a strategic move, Berger Paints is set to launch a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Panagarh, West Bengal, while repurposing its historic Howrah plant into an advanced R&D and innovation hub.

The Kolkata-based multinational employs over 4,000 professionals and maintains strategic partnerships with more than 500,000 painters nationwide.
