A senior IRS official informed employees on Thursday that approximately 6% of the workforce would be let go to manage costs. This downsizing mainly targets employees hired during former President Joe Biden’s administration as part of an expansion initiative.
Independent budget analysts suggest that these job cuts could improve government revenue and help reduce the trillion-dollar budget deficit.

U.S. State Department Halts Media Subscriptions
In another major cost-cutting effort, the U.S. State Department announced on Thursday that it would suspend all media subscriptions. This decision aligns with the Trump administration’s broader push to eliminate unnecessary government spending.
President Trump has appointed Elon Musk to lead the government downsizing task force, known as DOGE, which is reviewing various expenses. A State Department representative clarified that the suspended subscriptions do not include academic or professional journals.
