365Telugu.com online news,Mumbai, May 30th, 2025: The General Insurance Council (GIC) of India, the apex body representing the country’s non-life insurers, has unveiled its latest nationwide awareness campaign titled ‘Achha Kiya Insurance Liya’. This initiative is designed to bridge the awareness and trust gap in India’s non-life insurance market and align with the ambitious goal of achieving “Insurance for All by 2047.”
The campaign encourages citizens to view insurance not as a burden but as a smart, everyday financial decision. Insights from a consumer behavior study commissioned by GIC revealed that while awareness of motor, life, and health insurance is relatively high—motor insurance being the most purchased at 34%, followed by life (27%) and health (15%)—other categories like home, travel, and crop insurance are underutilized. Penetration in rural areas remains limited, except for crop insurance, which is primarily accessed via banks and agricultural service providers.

Dr. Tapan Singhel, Chairman of the General Insurance Council and MD & CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, highlighted a crucial gap between awareness and action:
“There’s a clear disconnect—insurance is often seen as a reluctant expense rather than a financial safety net. The ‘Achha Kiya Insurance Liya’ campaign is a collective effort to make insurance relatable, demystified, and rewarding. It’s about building trust and embedding insurance into the everyday language and life of Indians.”

The campaign underscores the vital role of general insurance in safeguarding individuals’ hard-earned savings and assets from unforeseen events such as accidents, medical emergencies, property loss, and travel disruptions. It also aims to debunk myths around insurance and clearly communicate the benefits of various policies including motor, health, home, travel, and crop insurance.
A key differentiator of this campaign is its innovative storytelling approach—featuring everyday stories narrated by pets, showcasing the comfort and peace of mind that insurance can bring. Moving away from complex jargon and fear-based messaging, the campaign focuses on relatable and simple narratives.

As India targets universal insurance coverage by 2047 under the IRDAI’s vision, the ‘Achha Kiya Insurance Liya’ campaign seeks to foster greater trust in the sector and inspire proactive financial planning among consumers. Additionally, the GIC is urging insurers to simplify policies, claims processes, and payment options, emphasizing long-term confidence and positioning insurance as a reliable pillar of financial security.
