365Telugu.com Online News,Vijayawada, August 15, 2022: The Andhra Pradesh state government issued an order on Sunday giving special exemption to 175 life prisoners and 20 other prisoners on Independence Day as per the recommendations of the Standing Committee. According to these orders, the state government has taken a policy decision to grant exemption from special sentences to life prisoners on Independence Day 2021.
Accordingly, the government constituted a standing committee and previously issued a GO. Under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department to review the list of eligible life prisoners and recommend to the State Government. The Director General of Prisons has sent a prison-wise list of eligible life prisoners.
As per the recommendations of the Standing Committee, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh has now canceled the remaining unexpired sentences of 175 life prisoners. The Principal Secretary, Home (Parols & HRC) Department, Harish Kumar Gupta has issued an order to this effect. State Government has also issued GO No.122 giving special relief to 20 prisoners on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under Phase-1, August 15, 2022.
