The tournament format allows for the possibility of the two teams meeting not just once, but up to three times — in the group stage, Super 4s, and potentially the final.
As per the draft schedule proposed by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, making their initial clash inevitable. If both teams qualify for the Super 4s, they’ll face each other again. And if they make it to the final, it would mark a rare third face-off in a single edition of the tournament.
The Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the One Day International (ODI) format, and the UAE was chosen due to its neutral venue status and modern infrastructure. India last won the Asia Cup in 2018, also held in the UAE, while Pakistan’s last title win was in 2012.
The tournament is expected to begin in late August or early September, and final confirmation on dates and fixtures will be announced soon by the ACC.
