365telugu.com online news,September 19, 2025:On Snakebite Awareness Day, Bharat Serums & Vaccines Limited (BSV), a leading company in bite management and a part of the Mankind Group, emphasized its commitment to saving lives by promoting immediate medical care for snakebite victims.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), snakebites are a major public health crisis, with India having the highest number of cases globally. The “big four” snake species (Common Krait, Indian Cobra, Russell’s Viper, and Saw Scaled Viper) are responsible for the majority of deaths in the country.

A significant challenge is that only a small fraction (20-30%) of snakebite victims in rural India seek hospital treatment. This has led to severe underreporting, with official government figures capturing only a fraction of the actual deaths.

In response to this crisis, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare designated snakebite as a “notifiable disease” in November 2024, requiring all health facilities to report suspected cases.

BSV is leading the charge with its public health campaign, #SaanpKaVaar,AspatalMeinHiUpchaar (A snakebite needs hospital treatment). This initiative, which has been amplified by celebrity Amitabh Bachchan, aims to educate communities and bust common myths surrounding snakebite management.

The campaign uses various methods, including comic strips, on-ground events, and radio outreach, to stress the importance of immediate hospital care.

“This award reflects the bank’s sensitivity towards its millions of customers who interact in Hindi and other Indian languages and feel more comfortable availing banking services in their native languages,” said Sivani Sarma Deka, COO of BSV’s India Business. “We are committed to providing life-saving treatments and urging collective action to save lives from snakebites.”
