Café-Cinéma is part of the Bonjour India initiative, an artistic, cultural, educational, and social initiative by the Embassy of France and its cultural service Institut Français en Inde, the Alliance Française Network, and the Consulates of France.
The event was meant for lovers of cinema and food. At Café-Cinéma, visitors enjoyed French cuisine while watching the movie Delicieux – a film that is a visual ode to French Cuisine. It was a cinematic-gastronomic experience in the open air! Visitors grabbed glasses of wine, a plate of French delicacies, and sat under the sky to enjoy the film. The event proved the perfect place to meet, greet, and rejuvenate after a two-year-long pandemic. It was an exclusive event which was attended by following dignitaries: Shri Jayes Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Dept of IT and Industries, Govt of Telangana, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, Counselor for Education, Science and Culture, Embassy of France in India, Dr. Samuel Berthet, Director, Alliance Française of Hyderabad, Manish Dayya, GM, Novotel HICC, Mike Reddy, Proprietor, Rotomaker and RIFTI, Gerard Inizan, GM, Safran, Franck Lejeune, City Leader, Decathlon, Praveen PA , Dept of Aerospace and Defence, Govt.
It proved the perfect venue for a few hours of conviviality and memories, and for acquiring tastes that last a lifetime. The movie – Delicieux, a dramedy that tells the story of the opening of the first restaurant in France, set in the pre revolution 18th-century – entertained people not only with its humor but also with the images of delectable cuisine in many of its scenes. These images made the atmosphere at Café-Cinéma doubly enjoyable and lively. Alliance Française of Hyderabad partnered with Novotel HICC, RIFTI and the Govt. of Telangana to bring this event to the City of Pearls.
Café-Cinéma followed the inauguration of the Hyderabad leg of the Bonjour India festival which began at 5:30 pm in the lawns of the Novotel Hyderabad International Convention Centre. Attendees enjoyed high tea as well as wine.
Speaking about Café-Cinéma, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, Counselor for Education, Science and Culture, Embassy of France in India said “The pandemic and lockdowns have taken a toll on all of us. Cinémas and restaurants just recently started opening at full capacity. Café-Cinéma brought the best of film and cuisine to a single boisterous event. People not only enjoyed good French food but also watched an entertaining movie. Simultaneously, they had conversations about everything under the sun. Many came with friends and family, enjoyed beer, canapés, wine, movie and great conversation. The flavours savored at Café-Cinéma will not be forgotten soon.”
