365Telugu.com online news, December 1st, 2024: World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1, serves to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, support those affected, and dispel societal misconceptions. The theme for World AIDS Day 2024 is “Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right.” HIV weakens the immune system of affected individuals, making even simple infections potentially fatal. However, with proper care and treatment, the prevalence of AIDS has decreased over the years.

What is HIV/AIDS..?

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks and weakens the immune system. If left untreated, it progresses to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), the final stage of HIV infection. In this stage, the body’s immune system is severely compromised, leaving individuals vulnerable to severe infections, even those that are usually harmless.

Early Symptoms of HIV:

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Skin rash

Symptoms of AIDS:

  • Sudden weight loss
  • Recurrent fever
  • Pneumonia

Regular Medication:

AIDS patients receive treatment through Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), which helps control the virus and prevents further damage to the immune system. Consistent medication and regular checkups are essential for managing the disease effectively.

Maintain Hygiene:

People living with AIDS are at a higher risk of infections, making hygiene a critical factor in their care. Regular hand washing, maintaining personal hygiene, and avoiding contaminated objects can help prevent the spread of infections.

Healthy Diet:

A nutritious diet is essential for AIDS patients. Foods rich in leafy vegetables, fruits, proteins, and whole grains help strengthen the immune system and maintain bodily strength. Regular physical activity and sufficient sleep are also crucial for overall well-being.

Emotional Support:

In addition to physical challenges, AIDS patients often face mental health struggles, including loneliness and stress. Emotional support from family and friends is vital in providing mental stability. Open communication and emotional care can significantly reduce mental strain.
