365Telugu.com online news,November 29th,2024: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Telangana organized the 5th edition of its flagship event, the CII Telangana EDU Summit, on November 29, 2024, in Hyderabad. Themed “Skills for Tomorrow: Integrating Education, Employment & Global Competence,” the summit brought together industry leaders, educators, and policymakers to explore the integration of education and skills development.

During the event, CII and EY-Parthenon jointly launched a report titled “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Skilling into Telangana’s Education System,” highlighting key strategies to align Telangana’s education ecosystem with evolving industry needs.

Key Insights from the Summit..

Ms. Sri Devasena, IAS, Commissioner, Department of Technical & Collegiate Education, Government of Telangana, emphasized the innovative and courageous spirit of students in government schools. She advocated for adopting learning models from the Centre for Creative Learning, IIT Gandhinagar, to enhance education in Telangana. She urged teachers to create engaging and meaningful learning environments, tailor teaching to student needs, and inspire a joy for learning. She also highlighted the potential of the BFSI Consortium to drive impactful skill development initiatives.

Mr. VLVSS Subba Rao, Vice Chancellor, Telangana Young India Skills University, stressed the importance of combining academic knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for real-world challenges. He called for proactive efforts in “future-proofing” education through continuous adaptation to evolving global demands.

Prof. Sri Ram Venkatesh, Secretary, Telangana State Council of Higher Education, highlighted the need for dynamic curriculum development that aligns with workforce requirements. He proposed regular industry visits for faculty to stay updated with industry trends, ensuring effective teaching practices.

Dr. Avantika Tomar, Partner, EY-Parthenon, discussed the significance of integrating skill education with traditional academic models to boost India’s global competitiveness. She praised Telangana for achieving the highest GSDP growth among Indian states in FY24, surpassing national averages in educational access. However, she emphasized critical areas for improvement, such as aligning curricula with industry demands, fostering stronger industry-academic partnerships, and increasing focus on soft skills and vocational programs.

Mr. Sai Prasad, Chairman, CII Telangana, underlined the importance of mandatory internships for both students and faculty to bridge the gap between academia and industry. He advocated incorporating Telangana’s heritage and culture into education to foster identity, belonging, and enriched learning experiences.

Dr. B Bhaskar Rao, CMD, KIMS Hospitals, emphasized challenging students to think critically and instilling values like the dignity of labor. He highlighted the need for holistic development to prepare students for both academic success and societal contributions.

The summit also featured insights from other notable speakers from academia and industry, focusing on innovative strategies to integrate education and skills for a better future.
