365Telugu.com online news,India,January 18th,2025: HDFC ERGO General Insurance, one of India’s leading non-life insurance companies, has launched an impactful road safety awareness initiative titled #GalatRaastePeMatJao.
This campaign aims to highlight the dangers of unsafe driving practices and promote responsible road usage during the National Road Safety Week.
India has seen a significant rise in road accidents, resulting in numerous fatalities and severe injuries. In 2022 alone, over 4.60 lakh accidents occurred, leading to more than 4.40 lakh injuries. Contributing factors such as speeding, mobile phone usage, and reckless driving are common causes behind these accidents.

To combat these issues, HDFC ERGO has rolled out the #GalatRaastePeMatJao campaign to educate the public about safe driving habits. The initiative encourages individuals to avoid dangerous behaviors like using mobile phones while driving and speeding, urging the public to prioritize road safety.
As part of this initiative, the company is also distributing car danglers at select cashless garages across the country. These danglers carry important road safety messages, serving as constant reminders to vehicle owners to adhere to safety measures while driving.
Parthanil Ghosh, Director and Chief Business Officer at HDFC ERGO General Insurance, emphasized the importance of road safety, stating, “Road accidents not only cause emotional and financial distress for families but also severely impact the Indian GDP, accounting for 3-5% annually.

According to the latest Global Status Report on Road Safety by WHO, India continues to see rising traffic crash numbers. Alarmingly, young individuals between the ages of 18-45 made up 65% of road accident fatalities in 2022. As a responsible corporate entity, HDFC ERGO has always undertaken initiatives that contribute to a safer and healthier India.
Through #GalatRaastePeMatJao, we aim to raise awareness about the consequences of unsafe driving and foster a culture of responsible road behavior.”
This initiative follows several previous road safety campaigns by HDFC ERGO, including #TakeItEasyonRoads in 2015, which raised awareness about distracted driving, and #EyesOnTheRoad to promote concentration on the road.
In 2020, the company launched the “High Beam – Not OK Please” radio campaign, addressing the misuse of high beams while driving, and #KyaYehChaltaHai, focusing on encouraging compliance with traffic rules.
HDFC ERGO also launched #RoadSafetyKiZimmedariHamari in 2021 to emphasize collective responsibility for road safety and #SadakSurakshaJeevanSuraksha in 2022, focusing on the dangers of ignoring road safety protocols.

Furthering its commitment to road safety, HDFC ERGO partners with NGOs to conduct urban trials and redesign intersections, aiming to transform high-risk areas into zero-fatality zones. The company also raised awareness about the risks posed by uninsured vehicles, which often leave motor accident victims’ families without adequate support.
Through its comprehensive road safety initiatives, HDFC ERGO has positively impacted over 2.6 lakh lives in FY24, reinforcing its dedication to improving road safety in India.
