365Telugu.com Online News, Bengaluru, October18th, 2022: Bangalore Municipal Corporation has set an innovative target to collect taxes. Senior officials have proposed transfer punishment to officials who are lagging behind in property tax collection, a source of revenue for Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). For that, they are setting a tax collection target for each officer, and if it is not met, action will be taken against the concerned officer. BBMP aims to collect over Rs.4,000 crore property tax in the current financial year.
According to this, property tax of Rs.2,497.58 crores has been collected till October 8. Considering that, 59.61 percent of the target tax for the current financial year has been collected. Also 40.39 percent property tax has to be collected. Thus, the BBMP revenue department’s plan is to achieve the target of 100 percent tax collection in the remaining five to six months.
Targets are being set for officials and staff regarding tax collection. At present the target has been fixed from Tax Inspector to Zonal Commissioner as decided by BBMP Revenue Department. The tax inspectors and revenue inspectors were ordered to collect tax up to Rs.10 lakh from the tax arrears. Similarly, BBMP has ordered to collect 100% of arrears and current taxes from Rs.10 to Rs.25 lakhs to Assistant Revenue Officers, Rs.25 to Rs.50 lakhs to Revenue Officers and Zonal DCs.
