365telugu.com online news,Hyderabad, August 6, 2025:In a major stride towards clean and sustainable mobility, Indian Railways has partnered with Indofast Energy—a 50:50 joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility-to establish a cutting-edge network of battery swapping stations across Hyderabad and Secunderabad railway divisions.

This transformative collaboration has already resulted in the commissioning of 80 battery swap stations at 25 key railway locations, with 56 stations under the Secunderabad division and 24 under the Hyderabad division. In a further boost to India’s clean energy mission, 40 more stations are set to be added in the next three months, significantly strengthening the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the region.

Spearheaded by the South Central Railway, this initiative is designed to support India’s transition to electric mobility by offering swift, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions for EVs. Indofast Energy will be responsible for setting up and operating these strategically located hubs. The company has an ambitious roadmap to deploy over 10,000 battery swap stations across 40+ cities over the next three years, aiming to serve more than 1 million EV users nationwide.

Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, remarked,

“Our operational stations in Hyderabad are already proving to be a vital solution for last-mile connectivity and delivery services. The growing demand reinforces the urgent need for accessible EV infrastructure in urban areas. We’re proud to collaborate with Indian Railways and look forward to scaling this model for a cleaner, more efficient tomorrow—one battery swap at a time.”

R. Gopalakrishnan, Divisional Railway Manager, South Central Railway, added,

“This pioneering partnership marks a major milestone in our commitment to sustainable innovation. By deploying battery swapping stations at railway premises, we are not only enhancing passenger convenience but also reducing emissions and decongesting urban transit zones. This initiative aligns closely with Railway Board guidelines on e-mobility, showcasing the potential of public-private collaboration in accelerating India’s green mobility goals.”
