365Telugu.com online news,National, April 25th, 2025: IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Whitaker as an Independent Director on its Board, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.
Mr. Whitaker most recently served as the Administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he oversaw air safety, operational efficiency, and the national air traffic system in the United States. He stepped down from the role in January 2025.

Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, expressed confidence in the appointment, stating, “Mike’s extensive experience across both the aviation industry and government institutions will greatly enhance the effectiveness and diversity of IndiGo’s Board. His focus on safety, operational excellence, and international affairs will be a strategic asset as IndiGo continues its growth journey.”
Mr. Whitaker commented on his new role, saying, “I’m truly honored to join the Board of the world’s fastest-growing airline. India stands as one of the most dynamic travel hubs globally, with immense potential for expansion. I look forward to supporting IndiGo’s continued growth as a global aviation leader.”

Over his distinguished 30-year career in aviation, Mr. Whitaker has held several senior roles, including Chief Operating Officer at Supernal – Hyundai’s advanced air mobility division – as well as Deputy Administrator at the FAA and Senior Vice President of Alliances, International & Regulatory Affairs at United Airlines. He began his career in aviation law with Trans World Airlines in New York.

Mr. Whitaker is also a licensed private pilot. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Louisville.
