At the same time, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking cancellation of the match. The petition cited recent terror strikes, including the Phalagam attack and Operation Sindoor, in which several Indian soldiers were martyred, arguing that such sporting ties send the wrong message and undermine the morale of the armed forces.
The Supreme Court, however, dismissed the plea, clearing the way for the high-voltage encounter to proceed as planned.
