Spider-Man: No Way Home released in India by Sony Pictures Entertainment India has cast its web on Indian fans crossing 3.5 million tickets sold on BookMyShow at the end of the first weekend alone! Fans are rushing to witness the culmination of the Spider-Man multiverse on the big screen with BookMyShow’s contribution to the box office collections of the filmin India coming in at a whopping 61% for the opening weekend alone, breaching both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It’s not just the metros rushing to catch the finale of the Spider-Man series but all of India, with sales from tier 2 and tier 3 towns at 52% of overall transactions. This is significantly higher than the 36% contributed by the previous movies of the franchise.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has clocked the third highest advance sales for a Hollywood film ever on BookMyShow. Apart from the English version of the release, the regional dubbed languages of the film are doing tremendously across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The Telugu and Tamil versions have contributed more than double the bookings as compared to Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019 release) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017 release). The movie’s release in 3D, IMAX and 4DX formats has also added to the traction with audiences across metros rushing to catch the film in these formats.
Not far behind, Allu Arjun helmed Pushpa: The Rise released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi & Kannada has already crossed 2.8 million tickets sold on BookMyShow at the end of the first weekend alone! The film hit a peak of 31 tickets sold per second at 9:38 pm on December 16th becoming the second highest film in terms of tickets sold per second on BookMyShow, only behind Baahubali 2. Pushpa: The Rise also marks the highest ever advance sales clocked for Allu Arjun through his filmography so far, beating Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo which earlier held the pole position on advance sales for the actor on the platform. Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai are amongst the top cities where audiences are rushing to catch the movie in cinemas.
