This collaboration reinforces the shared ethos of freedom, rebellion, and self-expression that unite motorcycling and rock music.

Dubbed the ‘Woodstock of India,’ the two-day festival took place on November 16 and 17, 2024, at Mumbai’s Bayview Lawns, Princess Dock. This year’s event brought together legendary rock bands and emerging talent, with the Jawa Yezdi Stage hosting the “Tomorrow’s Headliners” competition. Among over 100 competing bands, Dreadhammer, a thrash metal quartet from Kolkata, claimed the top spot and delivered an unforgettable performance.

  1. Diverse Musical Lineup: Independence Rock 2024 blended rock subgenres with Indian classical sounds, featuring standout acts like Swarathma & Friends, Parvaaz, and Bhayanak Maut. The festival also marked the return of iconic bands Motherjane and 13AD, alongside new talent like Nagaland’s About Us.
  2. Legendary Collaborations: Performances by rock veterans like Uday Benegal (Indus Creed) and Girish Pradhan (Girish and The Chronicles) brought a mix of nostalgia and evolution to the stage.
  3. Jawa Yezdi Experience Zone: A haven for motorcycle enthusiasts, this zone showcased the legacy and innovation of Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA Motorcycles. It featured nine models, lifestyle accessories, and a vintage Jawa 350 sidecar installation for a touch of nostalgia.
  4. Kommuniti Rides: Over 120 Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycle owners rode to the festival from cities like Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai, adding to the celebration of community and adventure.
  5. Inclusivity and Fusion: The festival featured a mix of genres, uniting regional, international, and cinematic influences, creating a melting pot of cultures through music.

Grand Finale and Prizes

The festival’s 30th edition ended on a high note with a special on-ground contest for attendees, culminating in Ronny Sequeira winning a Yezdi Roadster, presented by Maharaj Kumar Sahib Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Ji Mewar of Udaipur.

Classic Legends’ initiatives like the Ladakh International Music Festival and collaborations with subcultures such as surfing, skateboarding, and graffiti art underscore its commitment to creating experiences beyond motorcycling.

The Jawa lineup includes models like Jawa 42 Bobber and Jawa Perak, while Yezdi features the Roadster, Scrambler, and Adventure. BSA adds its iconic Gold Star 650 to the mix, ensuring motorcycling enthusiasts have plenty to celebrate.
