365Telugu.com online news,Greater Noida, October 17, 2024: JSW MG Motor India has made significant strides in electric vehicle (EV) technology by unveiling India’s first high-voltage (HV) second-life battery equipped with a locally developed Battery Management System (BMS). This innovation, part of their ongoing ‘Project Revive’, was showcased at The Battery Show held from October 3-5, 2024, at India Expo Mart.

This marks the third pilot project focusing on second-life battery applications, underlining the company’s commitment to promoting a circular economy and establishing a sustainable EV ecosystem. JSW MG Motor India is collaborating with Vision Mechatronics, a leading technology firm, to explore the untapped potential of EV batteries beyond their initial use. The new battery will first serve as a backup UPS solution for an industrial facility in Pune, demonstrating its effectiveness in large-scale energy storage applications.

Dr. Rashi Gupta, Managing Director of Vision Mechatronics, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “ReLive is India’s first high-voltage repurposed battery, featuring a homegrown active balancing BMS. This solution meets stringent safety standards, making it a reliable and sustainable choice for industrial energy storage.”

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India, emphasized the innovative nature of this project, noting, “Our partnership with Vision Mechatronics showcases our commitment to extending the life of EV batteries for industrial applications. The successful initiatives under ‘Project Revive’ are crucial in building a greener future.”

JSW MG Motor India has previously launched several battery recycling initiatives under ‘Project Revive’, including partnerships with BATX and IIT Delhi to develop a 100% off-grid charging station and a collaboration with Lohum and TERI to deploy a 5kWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to power a school in Nainital. These efforts align with the company’s broader vision to minimize environmental impact and innovate sustainable mobility solutions, contributing significantly to India’s energy transformation.
