365Telugu.com online news,Mumbai, March 14th, 2025: Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) Business, in collaboration with Lantania of Spain, has secured a significant international contract from ACWA Power, a leading Middle Eastern developer. The contract is for the construction of the Ras Mohaisen Desalination Plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. L&T, as the lead partner in the joint venture with Lantania, will oversee the execution of the project.

The Ras Mohaisen Desalination Plant will have a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day and will supply drinking water to the Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Baha regions, benefiting nearly one million people.

Project Scope

The scope of the project includes the design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of a seawater reverse osmosis desalination facility. Key components of the plant include:

  • Intake and outfall structures
  • Process units and pumping stations
  • 600,000 cubic meter potable water storage facility
  • Electrical and special infrastructure
  • Advanced automation and instrumentation systems
  • Integration of a Solar PV plant

This is L&T’s second major desalination project in Saudi Arabia in recent times, further strengthening its position in the Middle East’s water infrastructure sector. The contract aligns with WET’s strategy to expand its footprint across key global markets with strong business potential.
