365Telugu.com Online News, Delhi, March 31st, 2023: The Ministry of Defense has signed an agreement worth Rs 27,000 crore with Indian companies to further strengthen Make in India under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Under this, arms, naval vessels, missile systems and other equipment are to be procured for various parts of the army.

A defense contract worth Rs 19600 crore has been awarded to the Navy for procurement of 11 next-generation patrol vessels and six next-generation missile corvettes. At the same time, the Army has signed an agreement with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to purchase two regiments of Akash air defense missile system worth Rs 6000 crore.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defense has sanctioned Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) with Rs. Placed an order for 13 Linex-U2 fire control systems worth Rs 1700 crore.

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Defence, Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilding and Engineers (GRSC), Kolkata have awarded the contract for the construction of 11 patrol vessels for Rs 9,781 crore. 7 will be constructed by GSL, while 4 will be constructed by GRAC.

Fully indigenous vessels. Their supply will start from the month of September 2026. Linex-U2 fire control system to be procured from BEL will be installed on these patrol vessels. Akash missile system should be purchased from abroad first.

The deal signed by the Army with BDL for the Aakash Air Defense System has to be procured from abroad. But with the Modi government giving preference to indigenous products, it was decided to buy it from an Indian company.

Defense sources said this is an advanced version of the missile system, which will increase the firepower of the Indian Army.
