365Telugu.com online news, November 10th,2024: Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, serving as India’s 50th Chief Justice since November 2022, has had a profound impact on the judiciary and is affectionately dubbed the “Rockstar CJI” by many young lawyers. After two years in the role, he is set to retire on November 10, 2024, with Justice Sanjiv Khanna named as his successor.

Beyond his professional achievements, Justice Chandrachud’s personal life tells a story of resilience and deep relationships. He experienced great loss when his first wife, Rashmi, passed away from cancer in 2007. Facing the overwhelming challenge of balancing work with caring for his wife, Justice Chandrachud often went between the courtroom and the hospital, supporting her as best he could. Together, they had two sons, Abhinav and Chintan, who both followed in his footsteps, joining the legal profession—Abhinav practicing at the Bombay High Court and Chintan working abroad.

In 2008, at age 49, he married Kalpana Das, who also works in law. In an interview with The Week, Justice Chandrachud spoke candidly about his relationship with Kalpana, emphasizing the strong bond and friendship they share. He described her as a significant source of strength in his life and someone who has helped him grow personally.

The two value honest conversation and share many meaningful experiences together. He acknowledged that Kalpana’s feedback sometimes challenges him, but over time, he has come to appreciate her perspective deeply.

Their relationship, rooted in mutual respect and personal space, thrives on simplicity. They rarely attend social gatherings, preferring a quiet life at home, with each engaged in their own hobbies—him reading or listening to music, and her watching documentaries or caring for their daughters.

In a touching part of their journey, the couple adopted two special needs daughters, Priyanka and Mahi, whom they first met in 2015 while Justice Chandrachud was serving at the Allahabad High Court. Moving to Delhi, the family dedicated themselves to providing the girls with the best opportunities for growth and education. Justice Chandrachud reflects on how these daughters have enriched their lives, bringing love, joy, and new perspectives into their home.

Chief Justice Chandrachud’s life story is one of resilience, love, and a commitment to family and service. As he nears retirement, he leaves a legacy that is inspiring both in and beyond the courtroom.
