However, Mahindra can be expected to rework the Thar’s current platform so that it can be used to house batteries, electric motors. Or they’ll make the Thar.e rely on an entirely new dedicated electric skateboard platform. Mahindra already has an electric platform called INGLO on which the upcoming electric SUV will be based.
Since the Thar off-roader comes with 4-wheel drive, it makes sense for Mahindra to equip the electric version with a dual-motor setup, where one motor is on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. But the best part is that a proper quad-motor setup proves to be good. This means each wheel has its own electric motor to individually control torque and traction when off-roading.
The teaser also gives a glimpse of the rear tail lamp, the design of which is similar to the current Thar. It is a square unit with a small square inside. It is expected to be based on the Scorpio N , the platform used for the upcoming Thar 5-door. However, there is no word on when the production-spec version of the pick-up truck will be launched.
