The report revealed that OPPO successfully peaked its carbon emissions in 2022—two years ahead of its original climate goal.
Key Environmental Achievements
OPPO’s commitment to sustainable operations and eco-friendly products was evident in several major milestones:
- Carbon Emissions Reduction: In 2024, OPPO achieved a 3.2% year-on-year reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions—equivalent to the annual CO₂ absorption of over 5.14 lakh mature trees. Scope 3 emissions were reduced by 9.3% through collaborative efforts with supply chain partners.
- Water Reuse: Facilities in India and Dongguan collectively recycled and reused 76,165 tonnes of water through wastewater management initiatives.
- Eco-friendly Packaging: OPPO rolled out lightweight packaging and used recycled materials such as sugarcane and bamboo fibers across its entire smartphone lineup.
Empowering Communities Through the ‘Generation Green’ Campaign
In India, OPPO partnered with AICTE to run the ‘Generation Green’ campaign, aimed at spreading awareness about electronic waste. The campaign reached over 10 lakh college students across 476+ institutions. Highlights include:
- 5,000 student interns driving sustainability campaigns and e-waste awareness.
- Community-led events like awareness drives, art installations using e-waste, and “Green Day” celebrations.
- Over 10,339 kg of e-waste collected through these initiatives.
