365Telugu.com online news,India,May 3rd, 2025: Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), a global leader in lighting, in collaboration with the SELCO Foundation, has successfully solarized 10 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across Karnataka under its flagship CSR program, ‘Swasthya Kiran’. This impactful initiative aims to provide uninterrupted power to rural healthcare centres, enhancing the quality and reliability of health services in underserved communities.

Each PHC has been equipped with:

  • A 5 kWp solar panel
  • A 19.2 kWh battery
  • A 6 kVA solar power conditioning unit (PCU)

This setup ensures round-the-clock electricity to support essential medical equipment, lighting, and critical healthcare operations. The project is expected to save 7,000 electricity units per PHC annually, totaling nearly 70,000 units across all 10 centres. This translates to approximately ₹4.5 lakh in yearly financial savings and a reduction of nearly 50 metric tons of carbon emissions—advancing both healthcare and environmental goals.

Widespread Impact Across Karnataka

The solarized PHCs span across:

  • 4 in Tumkur
  • 3 in Bangalore Urban
  • 1 in Kolar
  • 2 in Mysore

These centres were selected based on criteria like high patient footfall and delivery volumes to ensure maximum community impact.

Leaders Applaud the Initiative

At the inauguration event, key dignitaries such as Dr. Mohandas (T.B. Officer, Tumakur District Health Office) and Dr. Sidheshwara (Taluk Health Officer, Sira Block) praised the initiative for its role in enhancing rural health infrastructure. Local Gram Panchayat leaders also participated and endorsed the program’s long-term benefits.
