Swadesh’s new luxurious 20,000-square-foot store is a meticulously curated collection that is a mosaic of colours, textures, and stories, with each piece reflecting the soul of its creator.
From elegant home linen to exquisite jewellery, an extensive home décor collection, wellness products, and much more, every item in the store resonates with the craftsmanship and culture of India.
This store offered a stimulating environment for an evening of crafts and conversation. Shefalee Vasudev, editor-in-chief of The Voice of Fashion, an author and journalist who has been reporting on crafts and Indian textiles for many years, led this walkthrough.
Besides a culturally engaged audience from Hyderabad, including fashion designer Anand Kabra, senior artiste Vidya Rao, and several other members of the city’s society, arts and cultural circles, the evening at Swadesh saw distinguished guests from other parts of India.
Well-known painter Paresh Maity, fashion and textile designers Nachiket Barve, Ashdeen Lilaowala, and Peter D’Ascoli, jewellery designer Niharika Shekhawat, and Asaf Ali, co-founder of Kashmir Loom, as well as Rasika Wakalkar of Pune’s TVAM Foundation joined this August gathering.
Vasudev spoke about the curation of the Swadesh store, its artisanal girth, and depth, inviting members of the distinguished audience to share their observations and memorable instances from their own experiences in the crafts ecosystem. The walkthrough collectively featured the most persistent idea of India that lives and speaks through our culture of handmade.
