365Telugu.com online news,February 10th,2025: Sony LIV is all set to bring history to life with its upcoming gripping fictional series, The Waking of a Nation. Created and directed by National Award-winning and International Emmy-nominated filmmaker Ram Madhvani, the show is set to premiere exclusively on Sony LIV from March 7.
Set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the series follows Kantilal Sahni (played by Taaruk Raina), a young lawyer who finds himself entangled in the dark underbelly of colonial deceit.
As the Hunter Commission manipulates the truth to serve the British Empire, Kantilal is caught in a storm of racism, historical erasure, and the relentless pursuit of justice.

Alongside his childhood friends-Ali Allahbaksh (Sahil Mehta), Hari Singh Aulakh (Bhawsheel Singh), and Poonam (Nikita Dutta, Hari’s wife)-Kantilal must navigate conflicting ideologies as they uncover a conspiracy that could change their fates forever. But in an era where justice is elusive, will they reveal the truth or fall victim to its suppression?
Sharing his thoughts on the project, creator-director Ram Madhvani said, “I have always been deeply interested in colonialism, and the issues of racism and prejudice that stem from it. As I considered my next project, I knew it had to be rooted in India’s past, within the British Raj and our struggle for independence.
That’s how the idea for The Waking of a Nation took shape. With Sony LIV, we now have a powerful story that blends a gripping courtroom drama with the journey of three friends and the making of modern India.”
