365Telugu.com Online News, Delhi, April 18th, 2023: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking formation of an independent inquiry committee headed by a former Supreme Court judge to probe the murder of gangster leader Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed in the presence of the police. The Supreme Court will hear this petition on April 24.

In the petition, questions have also been raised on the total 183 encounters that have taken place in the Yogi government so far. On April 24, the Supreme Court will hear the demand to form an expert committee in the murder case of gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed in the presence of the police.

Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur also filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a Supreme Court or High Court-supervised CBI probe into the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother. Amitabh Thakur’s petition stated that even though his brother Atiq Ahmed was the culprit, the manner in which they were killed was wrong.

Order to release Akhil Gogoi on bail..
The Supreme Court ordered the release of independent MLA Akhil Gogoi on bail. The court said that Akhil Gogoi will remain on bail pending trial, but will have to follow the conditions imposed by a special court on the assemblyman. Akhil Gogoi is facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 in connection with anti-CAA protests.

During the trial, Akhil Gogoi’s lawyer said that this is a case of political vendetta. However, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing on behalf of the National Investigation Agency, vehemently opposed these claims.

The hearing on Muslim reservation has been postponed.. The hearing on the removal of 4 percent OBC reservation for Muslims in Karnataka has been postponed in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will now hear the matter on April 25th.

The Karnataka government told the court that no new appointments or new admissions under the quota will take place until the inquiry is conducted.
