The NSE Nifty 50 was up 29.75 points, or 0.16%, at 18,350.90, while the BSE Sensex was up 130.58 points, or 0.21%, at 62,003.20. Among sectoral indices, Bank Nifty fell 52.65 points or 0.12% to 43,628.75, while Nifty IT jumped 167.30 points or 0.58% to 29,096.05.
In Nifty 50, Adani Enterprises, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tech Mahindra were the top gainers, while Eicher Motors, Power Grid, Grasim, Sun Pharma and Axis Bank were the losers.
The last trading day of the week started with the stock market rising, but the impact of the global slowdown was also felt in the market during this time.
The SGX Nifty was trading in the red mark on Friday morning, trading near 18400. US futures markets also saw a sell-off. Dow, Nasdaq, S&P futures also weakened. While the Sensex was up 130 points, the Nifty crossed 18350 points.
But Japan’s Nikkei and Korea’s Kospi indices have recovered. Hong Kong’s Hong Kong is closed today. Earlier on Thursday, the BSE Sensex gained 99 points to close at 61,872.
