365Telugu.com online news,Hyderabad,June 13, 2025: The fourth day of the sailing regatta was significantly impacted by uncooperative weather, with winds largely absent, posing a challenge for the competitors.

Principal Race Officer Chaturvedi managed to squeeze in just one race during the morning session amidst the difficult conditions. This singular race, however, led to a flurry of protests, keeping the international jury busy. In an unfortunate turn of events, Tangai and Divakar, who were leading in the Under-19 29er fleet, were disqualified following these protests.

Mixed Doubles and Laser Events See Continued Dominance

Despite the challenging winds, the team of Thanuja and Shravan from Tamil Nadu continued their winning streak in the Mixed Doubles event, maintaining their strong lead. In the girls’ singular race of the day, Alia Sabreen (TNSA TN) secured another victory in the Under-18 Laser Girls category.

In the Under-18 Laser Boys’ category, Sharanya Yadav from NYSC Goa also clinched a win in his race, positioning himself firmly for a potential gold medal.

Due to the persistent lack of wind, with speeds dropping below 5 knots, the entire afternoon session of races had to be abandoned.

Haryana’s Young Sailors Excel in Green Fleet

A notable highlight of the day came from the “Green Fleet,” comprising relatively inexperienced sailors. Two promising young sailors from Haryana, who have been adopted by the Telangana Sailing Association, remarkably topped the charts. Aayu Kumar in the boys’ fleet and Sakshi Chhounnker in the girls’ fleet are now assured of a podium finish, both heading towards potential gold medals.

“This is our first major performance, and we are lucky that our sailors have been adopted by Telangana. We look forward to returning to Haryana with the gold medals and trophies,” expressed Lokesh Yadav, their escort and mentor, beaming with pride.
