-Young farmers hailed for their innovation in agri-sector

365Telugu.com online news,Hyderabad,26th September, 2023: Youth for Anti-Corruption (YAC), an NGO working to eradicate corruption and create awareness among youth on various issues of public interests, has felicitated 25 farmers for their innovative techniques used in the farm sector.
At a programme held at Haritha Plaza in Begumpet on Sunday, the YAC honoured the model farmers. The event was presided over by YAC Founder and President Rajendra Palnati.
The programme saw a galaxy of guests like IPS officer and former CBI Joint Director VV Laxminarayana, Former RTI Commissioner Varre venkateswarlu, Retired VC Prof Jayashankar Agriculture University Praveen Rao, retired agriculture officer Ashok Kumar, Aries Agro Limited southern Telangana region head Nalla Ayyanna Naidu.
Speaking on the occasion IPS officer and former CBI Joint Director VV Laxminarayana said the farming is a key sector and it was farmers who played a vital role in sustaining the economy during Covid-19 pandemic.
He said an awareness programme should be organised for students on the farming sector and various issues concerning the farmers.
He urged the farmers present at the event to enlist five issues or suggestions they would want the government to implement for the betterment of agriculture.
He said these suggestions would be taken up with the government with the state and central governments.
The former IPS officer, said he himself practices farming and has a farm near Rajahmundry. He said drone technology is revolutionising the agri-sector and helping farmers to resolve various issues.
He said the farming sector still employs a major workforce in the country and provides employment to many.
He said innovation and organic farming has resulted in increase in farm yield and made agriculture a lucrative profession attracting young and educated youth towards it.
He urged youth to explore innovation in agriculture and work towards the betterment of the farmers who are the backbone of the economy.
Renowned agriculture scientists Prof Praveen Rao, Ashok Kumar and Nalla Ayyanna Naidu also hailed youth taking to farming and introducing new techniques including farm mechanisation which is increasing farm produce by many folds.
YAC president Rajendra Palanti thanked the guests and experts for their time and suggestions for the farmers. He said the YAC has been recognising individuals from various fields for their work in their respective fields.
He said YAC identified 25 farmers who have done tremendous work in the field of agriculture by introducing various innovative techniques and organic farming methods.
Following are some farmers who were felicitated for their work in agriculture.
Ujwal, Venkataratnapur, Medak: An audio-visual engineer, Ujwal has been into the farming sector for over half a decade. Despite having Australian citizenship, Ujwal is practising agriculture and is rearing 13 varieties of cattle.
He has over 300 cows at his farm. He grows millets, ginger, onions, and tomatoes on his farm.
He supplies over 500 litres of milk apart from ghee and makes 12 sweet varieties. He provides employment for 35 individuals at his farm.
Banda Raghava Reddy, Miryalaguda: 50-year-old Raghavareddy grows paddy, wheat, jowar, ragi at his farm. HE is credited with growing the first wheat crop in Telangana and uses extensive mechanisation to enhance farm produce. HE also grows vegetables using organic techniques at his farm.
Anwar, Bhootpur, Mahbubnagar: Anwar has been rearing 10 types of sheep at his farm for over six years now. He also has a mango and a guava orchid. His entire family is into sheep rearing and agri-related works.
Padma, Bornapalli, Jagtial: A professor at Sarojininaidu Women’s Degree College in Hyderabad, Padma is rearing over 200 cattle. She encourages youngsters to take up farming and provides expertise in the field to farmers.
N. Narsireddy, Koutla(B), Nirmal
Narsireddy is into farming for the past 34 years. He grows cotton, soya, turmeric, paddy in over 20 acres at his farm. He was head of farmers federation that had over 80 members, in 2003. He provides loans and financial aid to farmers.
Bapureddy, Jaina, Jagtial district.
Bapureddy is into farming activities since 2015. He practices organic farming on his 8 acre land. He grows 2 types of paddy. He utlises dung, cow urine for fertilizer.
Rajendar Reddy, Bhupalnagar, Mulugu.
Rajendar after completing his SSC in 2000, is into farming. He grows banana, Chilli, Palmolive seeds, paddy, cotton on his 20 acre land. He utlises micro Irrigation, green manure to increase his farm produce.
Patangi Rambabu(Rangareddy dist), K. Hanumantharao (Patanchervu), Ch. Ravindar (Jagityal),Edmalla Mallareddy (Laxmipuram, Jagityal),Ramchandra Reddy(Ramadugu, karimnagar),Chanda Sudhakar(Kandlapalle, karimnagar), Sama Ellareddy (Siddipet), Bhaskar Reddy (Ankapur), Madhava Reddy (Hyderabad) and Rajeshwar Rao (Karimnagar) and others were felicitated.
YAC members Dr. Indira Priyadarshini, Raju kaanuganti, G Jayaram, Ramesh, Gangadhar, Rajesh and others were participated.
