365Telugu.com online news ,May 19th, Haryana:In a major development with national security implications, Hisar-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested on charges of espionage, with authorities suspecting her of maintaining close ties with Pakistani intelligence operatives. The arrest follows a detailed investigation into her foreign travels and alleged communication with foreign agents.
According to Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan, Malhotra had visited Pakistan multiple times and had recently returned from a trip just days before the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. She is also reported to have travelled to China. Her visits and activities abroad have raised serious concerns among security agencies.
“Her frequent travel to Pakistan and interactions with known intelligence operatives there, some of whom have been declared persona non grata in India, indicate that she may have been groomed to act as an asset,” said SP Sawan.

Although Malhotra did not have direct access to classified defense information, her timing of communication with foreign contacts—particularly during sensitive periods in India-Pakistan relations—has prompted suspicion. Authorities are also examining her finances, suspecting foreign funding sources may have supported her travels, which appeared disproportionate to her income as a travel vlogger.

Further investigations are exploring her network of associates within India. Notably, Odisha Police are probing her ties with Priyanka Senapati, a Puri-based YouTuber known for religious content. Senapati had accompanied Malhotra to the Jagannath Temple in September 2024 and later to Kartarpur in Pakistan. Following the arrest, Senapati has stated her willingness to cooperate with authorities and has made her social media profiles private.
This case has triggered alarm over the growing use of digital influencers and online platforms by foreign intelligence agencies to gather information or exert soft influence. Authorities emphasize that further investigation is underway and have not ruled out more arrests.
