365Telugu.com online news, November 16th,2024: Zomato has officially launched District, a brand-new app designed to cater to the “going-out” lifestyle. Released on November 15 for both iOS and Android users, District marks Zomato’s latest expansion into consumer-facing services.
This is the third major offering from Zomato, following its flagship food delivery platform and its quick commerce venture, Blinkit.
What Does District Offer?
Currently, the app allows users to:
- Book tickets for movies.
- Reserve seats for live events.
In addition to these features, District aims to provide a one-stop platform for a range of activities including dining out, sports ticketing, live performances, shopping, staycations, and more.
Competing in the Entertainment Space
The launch positions Zomato as a direct competitor to BookMyShow, which dominates 60% of India’s online movie ticket market.
In a move to strengthen its foothold in the ticketing segment, Zomato had earlier acquired entertainment business Insider for ₹2,048 crore in August. This acquisition underscores its ambitious push beyond food delivery and quick commerce into the broader entertainment and lifestyle sector.
With District, Zomato aims to redefine the “going-out” experience for Indian consumers by offering convenience and variety under a single digital platform.
