365Telugu.com online news,New Delhi, March 12th,2025: The government has announced that 5G services have been successfully rolled out in 773 out of 776 districts across all states and Union Territories, including Lakshadweep.

Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that as of February 28, telecom service providers (TSPs) have installed 4.69 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) nationwide.

TSPs have not only met but exceeded their minimum rollout obligations as set in the Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for the spectrum auction. The further expansion of mobile services depends on the techno-commercial feasibility of the telecom operators, the minister added.

To accelerate the rollout of 5G services, the government has introduced several key initiatives, including:

  • Auctioning of spectrum for 5G mobile services
  • Financial reforms to streamline Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR), Bank Guarantees (BGs), and interest rates
  • Removal of Spectrum Usage Charges for spectrum acquired in the 2022 auction and beyond
  • Simplified SACFA (Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocations) clearance process
  • Launch of the PM GatiShakti Sanchar portal and Right of Way (RoW) Rules to streamline telecom infrastructure installations

The Indian telecom industry is witnessing significant growth, both domestically and globally, with immense potential for further expansion, according to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

With approximately 1,187 million subscribers, urban tele-density has reached 131.01%, while rural areas stand at 58.31%. The rapid deployment of 5G is being driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), the use of indigenous data sets, and the establishment of localized data centers.
