A Herculean Restoration Effort

Bringing back this classic was no easy feat. The original negative of the film had gone missing for over three years. When finally located in 2021 with a person named Appa Rao in Vijayawada, the reel was in a severely damaged state—coated in oil, dust, and affected by magenta discoloration. This marked the beginning of an arduous restoration process.

The Vyjayanthi Movies team, in collaboration with Prasad Corporation and Prime Focus, took on the mammoth task of restoring and enhancing the film. Damaged frames were meticulously repaired and scanned, with every scratch digitally removed, frame by frame. The film was digitised in 8K resolution and downconverted to 4K for theatrical projection.
