365telugu.com online news,Mumbai, November 3, 2025: Alkem Foundation, the CSR arm of Alkem Laboratories Ltd., has partnered with Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to establish the country’s first dedicated research centre for immuno-therapeutics and regenerative medicines, funded entirely through corporate social responsibility.

The “Alkem Centre for Advanced Research and Development of Applied Immuno-Therapeutics and Regenerative Medicines” will be set up on the IIT Bombay campus. Alkem Foundation will allocate 20–25% of its cumulative CSR obligations over seven years to the initiative.

This marks the first industry-academia collaboration in India using the CSR route to advance research in these high-precision therapy areas.

The centre aims to bridge critical gaps in infrastructure, talent, and translational capabilities, focusing on gene editing, advanced biomaterials, and next-generation delivery systems. It will also serve as a training and incubation hub for clinician-scientists and biotech entrepreneurs.

Mrs. Madhurima Singh, Executive Director and Chairperson of Alkem’s CSR and Sustainability Committee, said: “Only a small fraction of CSR spending in India supports R&D.

We are proud to partner with IIT Bombay to develop affordable, India-centric solutions in immuno-therapeutics and regenerative medicines—improving both lifespan and quality of life.”

Prof. Shireesh B. Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, stated: “This collaboration leverages our strengths in biotechnology and biomedical engineering to deliver real-world healthcare impact.

It will drive clinical breakthroughs, reduce import dependency, and strengthen India’s self-reliance in healthcare innovation.”

The partnership integrates Alkem’s pharmaceutical expertise with IIT Bombay’s research excellence and global faculty network to position India as a leader in applied biotechnology.
