365telugu.com online news,Telangana,JUNE 9th,2022:TSRTC, the only public transport Corporation in the State, ferries more than 30 lakh passengers and about 12 Lakh Students i.e. about 42 lakh plus commuters each day across various destinations in Telangana and to the neighbouring States. The Corporation buses use nearly 6 lakh litres of diesel each day and the price of bulk HSD oil which was Rs. 84.75 per litre in December 2021 was increased to Rs.118.73 per litre in March 2022.

The increased cost of fuel has put a huge financial burden on the Corporat ion, which is already reeling under losses and is currently incurring a loss of nearly Rs.5 crores every day due to an abnormal increase in diesel cost.
With effect from 09.04.2022, the Corporation has levied a nominal diesel cess of Rs.2/- per ticket in Pallevelugu and City ordinary services and Rs.5/- per ticket in all other services irrespective of distance travelled.

The long and medium distance passengers will be travelling for more distance when compared with City and Rural areas passengers and
hence the cost on diesel will increase as per distance travelled. This being the case, the Corporation levied diesel cess at a flat rate on 09.04.2022 which could not cover the increased cost on account of increased diesel prices.
Hence, it has become inevitable to levy diesel cess which will be more for passengers travelling more distance in our buses and less for passengers travelling for a short distance in our buses.

The Corporation will be implementing the diesel cess in slabs of Rs.5/- and
above depending on the distance travelled by the passengers, in all types of services in Districts and long distance services. In the case of Pallevelugu services, there will be no change in the minimum fare of Rs.10/- so as not to burden the short distance travellers.

The additional diesel cess will be as follows depending on the distance travelled by a passenger.Product Additional Diesel Cess

Pallevelugu Rs.5 to Rs.45 for 250 KMs
Express Rs.5 to Rs.90 for 500 KMs
Deluxe Rs.5 to Rs.125 for 500 KMs
Super Luxury Rs.10 to Rs.130 for 500 KMs A/C Services Rs.10 to Rs.170 for 500 KMs

The diesel cess in Greater Hyderabad limits is not increased, thus passenge rs travelling in city buses are not affected. Secondly, Students will be obtai ning subsidised bus passes from the Corporation for their journey to Schools and Colleges throughout the State. In view of the increased cost of
diesel, it has been decided to increase the Students Bus pass fares in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and in Rural areas of districts also.

The last increase was done in the year 2019 marginally. Almost for 3 years, the bus passes charges were not increased even though the diesel price has increased multifold. The revised fares will come into effect from the 1st departure of 09.06.2022. Those passengers who have reserved their tickets in advance will not be levied the revised fares & difference in fare will not be collected. Bus passes issued at pre-revised rates will continue to be valid till the expiry of validity at old rates only.

The passengers travelling by TSRTC buses have always been supporting the
Corporation in its difficult times. With the rising diesel cost and other spare parts costs, the cost of operation has also increased and the Corporation is not in a position to bear the same without levying additional diesel cess. The above proposals to levy additional diesel cess and increase the Bus Pass fares for Students will help the Corporation recover only a portion of its operating costs. The Corporation earnestly requests the passengers to continue to support the Organisation in providing safe and affordable transport.
