Evolving from its earlier impact-driven program BookASmile, launched in 2014, BookAChange aims to democratize access to music education and performance opportunities for marginalized communities.

At the heart of this initiative is a pledge to nurture and inspire future talents in the field of music and performing arts. Beyond technical training, BookAChange focuses on holistic development, fostering emotional, social, and intellectual growth.

It seeks to instill values like self-esteem, empathy, and resilience, ensuring beneficiaries become well-rounded individuals ready to make a mark on the world.

500 Music Scholarships to Empower Young Talent
As part of its vision, BookAChange has pledged 500 music scholarships, providing financial aid to talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

These scholarships will support students and street artists pursuing education in instrumental music, vocals, audio production, songwriting, and the business of music at accredited institutions across India. The application process for the scholarships is now open.

A Movement Fueled by Entertainment Enthusiasts

Additional direct contributions are also welcomed, ensuring that every individual can be part of this movement to create opportunities through music.

Expanding Reach Across India
BookAChange is launching several transformative programs across India:

Mumbai: 30 students from Dharavi are receiving specialized training in Rap and DJing, preparing for India’s first-ever hip-hop musical theatre – Dharavi Dreams. Additionally, 125 students from BMC schools are undergoing an intensive 10-month Hindustani classical music program, paving the way for advanced learning and certification.

Delhi: The initiative supports a mobile recording studio – Music Bus, which provides over 6,000 children with hands-on training in songwriting, recording, and music production.

Music Therapy Initiatives: Programs like #MusicForAll are bringing the healing power of music to senior citizen homes and orphanages, reaffirming its impact across generations.

Transformative Experience: BookAChange at Coldplay’s Concert
In a life-changing experience, BookAChange recently took 25 beneficiaries-20 students and 5 music educators-to Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in Mumbai. For many, it was their first-ever live concert experience, sparking new dreams and aspirations.

Nikhil Bidlan, a beneficiary, shared his excitement:”The music, the lights, the energy—it was magical! It made me feel like anything is possible. I will never forget this day.”

Arya Bhoir, another beneficiary, added:”I closed my eyes and just listened. It was the best feeling ever. Now, I want to learn more, practice more, and maybe one day, perform on such a stage.”

Even the music educators found inspiration in the experience. Pooja Waghela, a music teacher, expressed:”Seeing my students experience live music like this was special. It gave them a new perspective on what’s possible and inspired me to enhance my teaching methods.”

BookAChange to Support Red Lorry Film Festival
In addition to music, BookAChange is also supporting the second edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival, raising funds to assist emerging artists and daily wage workers in the cinema industry.

For the past decade, BookASmile has enriched the lives of underprivileged children through experiences in music, art, theatre, dance, and sports. Now, with its transition into BookAChange, the foundation will focus more deeply on music and performing arts, carrying forward its legacy while expanding its impact.
