Chandrashekar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to take advantage of the barrages and reservoirs constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram Project and develop tourism places and spots all over the State. The CM wanted tourism centres development planning all over the State should be prepared after the identification of the places conducive to travel and tourism.

The CM held a review meeting on the tourism development in the State at Pragathi Bhavan here on Saturday. In the review meeting, Government’s Chief Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Sri Somesh Kumar, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sri Ramakrishna Rao, CM Principal Secretary Sri S Narsing Rao, Secretary Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Special Secretary Sri Bhoopal Reddy, Tourism development Corporation MD Sri Manohar, Kaleswaram E-in-C Sri Venkateswarlu and others participated.

“ With Barrages constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram project, Godavari waters will be available in abundance for several hundred kms. Water will be available in the river and canals all through the year. There is a dense forest area on either side of the river. Boating can be done on the river. Beautiful trees can be grown on either side of the river like the one on either side of Dal Lake in J&K. A lot of land is available with the Government at Barrages, Pump Houses and Reservoirs under the Kaleshwaram project. In these places, a Fountain Musical water parks can be created on the line of Brindavan gardens in Mysore.” the CM said.

“Toopakula Gudem and Dummu Gudem Barrages are also being constructed along with the Kaleshwaram project. There also several famous temples in their vicinity. Holy places like Basar, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram, Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy, Koti Lingala, Parnasala and Bhadrachalam are there. There are coal mines in Ramagundam and Mancherial. Tourists can be shown how coal is produced from the Open Cast and underground mining. Pump houses working can also be showcased. Power generating plants at Jaipur and Ramagundam can also be turned into a tourist attraction places. Tourism should be developed in the State keeping in view all these points,” the CM said.
