365Telugu.Com Online News, January 10, Hyderabad: The Indian farmers’ dependence on rainfall and other climate conditions, which are increasingly unpredictable, is one major reason for fluctuating agricultural production. The government recognizes the plight of farmers and has started various programs to ease the misery of the nation’s cultivators. Though beneficial, few farmers are aware about the existence of these programs. Dhanuka Agritech, one of India’s leading agrochemical formulations companies, lists five government-implemented schemes that are Indian farmers must know.

Announced in the Interim Union Budget of India on 1 February 2019, under this initiative all small and marginal farmers will receive up to ₹6,000 per year as minimum income support. The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of farmers to procure various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income. Farmers should contact the agriculture officer in their district to avail its benefits.

  1. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)

Launched on 1 July 2015 with the motto ‘Har Khet Ko Paani’, this scheme is aimed at providing end-to-end solutions in the irrigation supply chain, viz. water sources, distribution network and farm-level applications. It creates protective irrigation by harnessing rainwater at the micro level through ‘Jal Sanchay’ and ‘Jal Sinchan’. Farmers must take/refer to this scheme to help manage drought conditions.
