365Telugu.com online news,Mumbai, October 1st, 2024: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, a global leader in cardiovascular disease management, has launched the “Take Charge @18” movement, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about hypertension and the importance of early blood pressure monitoring, starting at the age of 18. The campaign was inaugurated at the iconic Gateway of India with a two-hour 3D video projection, visually emphasizing the significance of early blood pressure checks.

In collaboration with the Association of Physicians of India (API), Glenmark has designated the 18th of every month as “Take Charge @18 – BP Screening Day.” The initiative encourages all adults, especially young adults, to prioritize regular blood pressure checks to protect their heart health and reduce the risk of developing hypertension-related complications.

This large-scale awareness campaign was launched with a dynamic 3D video projection event, live-streamed across platforms, and viewed by over 100,000 healthcare professionals. Through this campaign, Glenmark aims to educate 10 crore Indians about hypertension and its prevention.

Addressing a crucial gap in public health knowledge, the initiative targets young adults who may be at risk of hypertension, a condition that has led to a significant rise in heart attacks among the youth in India. Recent studies highlight the urgency of early detection, as hypertension often develops without symptoms and can have life-threatening consequences if left unchecked.

The campaign has achieved several key milestones, including:

  • 50 Youth Awareness Programs: Engaging college students to emphasize the importance of regular blood pressure monitoring.
  • Digital Outreach: Reaching over 10 million individuals through bpincontrol.com, social media, and influencer collaborations.
  • 900+ Hypertension Awareness Rallies: Nationwide events held in alignment with World Hypertension Month and World Heart Month to raise awareness.

Mr. Alok Malik, President and Business Head – India Formulations at Glenmark, expressed the company’s commitment to addressing the rising cases of hypertension among Indian youth. “As hypertension continues to rise at an alarming rate, particularly among the younger population, it is imperative that we intervene early. Through this campaign and our collaboration with API, we are working to educate the public on the importance of blood pressure management and empower them to take proactive steps to improve their health.”

The “Take Charge @18” movement is supported by recent data from an ICMR study showing that 35.5% of Indians aged 20 and older suffer from hypertension, with rates in urban areas reaching as high as 40.7%. As part of India’s national health goals, Glenmark’s initiative aligns with efforts to reduce the prevalence of hypertension by 25% by 2025.

Through a combination of educational outreach, both online and in-person, Glenmark’s campaign aims to keep hypertension awareness at the forefront of public health, encouraging early monitoring and better management practices to improve overall heart health across the country.
