365Telugu.com online news, Mumbai, January 6th, 2025: Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), a leading diversified agri-business company, has introduced Godrej Pride Hog, a new scientifically formulated pig feed range aimed at improving pig health, immunity, and overall growth.
The feed range comes in three variants-Starter, Grower, and Finisher-designed to provide balanced nutrition across all stages of a pig’s lifecycle.
Marking the launch, Godrej Agrovet organized a roundtable discussion in Guwahati, where industry experts gathered to deliberate on preventive measures against African Swine Fever (ASF) and modern farm management practices.
The event featured notable speakers, including Dr. Purnananda Konwar, General Manager, Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd., and Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra, CEO of the Animal Feed Business at Godrej Agrovet.
Speaking about the significance of the new feed range, Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, said:
“With half of India’s pig population concentrated in the North East, pig farming is a critical livelihood source for small and marginal farmers. Our Pride Hog feed range, backed by scientific research, will not only enhance pig health and immunity but also improve farmer productivity and profitability.”
Since its first detection in India in 2020, ASF has caused severe economic damage to pig farmers, particularly in the North East region. The viral disease, which affects both domestic and wild pigs, has a high mortality rate, making it essential to adopt strict preventive measures.
Dr. Purnananda Konwar emphasized the importance of biosecurity and modernized farming practices to combat ASF:
“The North East is particularly vulnerable to ASF outbreaks. Initiatives like the National Livestock Mission are crucial in helping farmers adopt scientific approaches and build resilience against this disease.”
In the absence of a vaccine, preventing ASF relies on measures such as strict biosecurity protocols, controlled pig movement, quarantine procedures, and maintaining farm hygiene. High-quality, immune-boosting feed also plays a vital role in reducing the disease’s impact.
Explaining the nutritional benefits of Pride Hog, Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra said:
“Pride Hog is a comprehensive nutritional solution that supports the unique requirements of pigs at every stage of their growth. From reducing piglet mortality to enhancing immunity and ensuring faster growth, this feed is designed to deliver optimal results.”
- Pride Hog Starter: For piglets (2 weeks to 2 months) – 20g to 1kg per day
- Pride Hog Grower: For pigs (2 to 4 months) – 1.2kg to 2.6kg per day
- Pride Hog Finisher: For pigs (4 months to trading stage) – 2.8kg to 3.5kg per day
This stage-specific feeding approach ensures consistent growth, enhanced immunity, and overall health improvement throughout a pig’s lifecycle.
Godrej Agrovet’s Animal Feed Business also highlights preventive biosecurity measures such as restricted farm access, disinfection protocols, pig isolation, and hygiene maintenance to mitigate ASF risks. The launch of Pride Hog reinforces the company’s commitment to empowering farmers with sustainable, science-driven solutions to improve livestock health and enhance farmer livelihoods.
