Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Prime Minister Modi on Thursday. He invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the new Parliament building. The construction of the new Parliament building is now complete. The new building symbolizes India’s spirit of self-reliance.

Due to the possibility of increasing the number of MPs in both houses of Parliament in future, care has been taken in the construction of the new Parliament building. This includes seating arrangements for 1,224 (888 Lok Sabha, 384 Rajya Sabha) MPs.

It is reported that the four-storey new Parliament House will have its own room not only for ministers and parties but also for MPs. Compared to the old Parliament, everything has changed. Marshals and staff attached to Parliament will be seen in the new outfits designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Foundation stone laying in 2020..

On August 5, 2019, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha asked the government to construct a new building for Parliament. Following this, on 10 December 2020, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Parliament building. The newly constructed Parliament building was constructed in a short period of time with good quality.

This Parliament building works to further enrich India’s glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values. But this building with state-of-the-art facilities helps the members to perform their duties better.

888 members can sit in the Lok Sabha.

In the present Parliament building, 550 members of the Lok Sabha and 250 members of the Rajya Sabha can sit. Keeping in view the future needs, arrangements were made for a meeting with 888 members of the Lok Sabha and 384 members of the Rajya Sabha in the newly constructed Parliament building. Joint sittings of both the Houses are held in the Lok Sabha Chamber only.

Not central hall but committee hall..

The new Parliament building will not have a central hall. A committee hall will be set up in its place. A very beautiful constitution room has been specially prepared in this. Along with these, lounge, library and canteen facilities are available.
