365Telugu.com Online News, March 29, 2025: A devastating earthquake has struck Myanmar, causing widespread destruction and claiming at least 150 lives. India has stepped forward to provide assistance, dispatching nearly 15 tons of relief materials via a military transport aircraft on Saturday.
According to sources, the relief consignment includes tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat food, water purification units, solar lamps, generator sets, and essential medicines.

Powerful Quake Jolts Southeast Asia
On Friday, a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 shook Myanmar and neighboring Thailand, leaving a trail of destruction. Myanmar has reported at least 144 fatalities and 732 injuries, while Thailand has also suffered casualties. Hundreds of buildings have collapsed, rendering many homeless.

India Extends Help to Myanmar
In response to the crisis, India is sending 15 tons of relief supplies to Myanmar aboard an Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft, which will take off from the Hindon Air Base.
The relief package includes critical supplies such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, food, water purification systems, solar lights, power generators, and medical supplies.
Destruction Across Myanmar and Thailand
The earthquake wreaked havoc in both Myanmar and Thailand, damaging buildings, bridges, and even a monastery. In Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, at least 10 people were killed when a high-rise under construction collapsed.

In Myanmar’s Mandalay, locals described the devastation, reporting damaged roads, downed phone lines, and power outages. A historic clock tower collapsed, and part of the Mandalay Palace wall crumbled.
A witness recounted, “A tea stall collapsed with many people trapped inside. We couldn’t reach them. It was horrifying.”

In Toungoo, a local said, “We were praying in the mosque when the quake hit. Three people died instantly.” Reports from Shan State mentioned that a hotel in Aung Ban was severely damaged, with two confirmed deaths and 20 people trapped under the debris.
Red Cross Warns of Infrastructure Damage
Myanmar’s capital, Naypyidaw, also suffered damage, with buildings collapsing, cars being destroyed, and major cracks appearing on roads. MRTV reported extensive damage to roads, bridges, and buildings. The Red Cross has raised concerns about the condition of key dams and reservoirs in the affected areas.
