365Telugu.com online news, December 3rd,2024: Shree Cement, one of India’s fastest-growing and leading cement manufacturers, has been honored with the prestigious CII Performance Excellence Award 2024 for its groundbreaking contributions to renewable energy through its solar, wind, and hybrid plants.
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the 23rd Edition of the Green Power Conference, CII’s flagship event focused on renewable energy, held in Chennai.
The company was recognized for three of its trailblazing renewable energy installations: a 20 MWp Solar Plant in Beawar, Rajasthan; a 31.5 MW Wind Plant in Kushtagi, Karnataka; and a 10.5 MW Wind Plant in Jath, Maharashtra. These projects highlight Shree Cement’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and forward-thinking practices.

The awards were presented by esteemed dignitaries, including Beela Rajesh, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Energy, Tamil Nadu; Ramesh Kymal, Chairman, Renewable Energy Council, CII – Godrej GBC; K S Venkatagiri, Executive Director, CII – Godrej GBC; and Dr. P Jayakumar, Chairman of the CII Performance Excellence Awards.
Shree Cement’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its energy portfolio, which exceeds 1 GW, with 517 MW sourced from green energy. In FY 2023-24, the company met 55.9% of its electricity requirements from renewable sources.
Notable projects include the 20 MWp solar plant in Beawar, Rajasthan, and wind plants in Kushtagi, Karnataka (31.5 MWp) and Jath, Maharashtra (10.5 MWp), all of which collectively reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 98,000 tons annually.
These plants play a key role in powering Shree Cement’s Beawar, Ras, Kodla, and Patas units with clean energy, solidifying the company’s leadership in green energy adoption.
Shree Cement has also made strides in reducing its environmental impact. Around 51% of its electricity generation comes from renewable sources, and the company has embraced cutting-edge technologies to enhance energy efficiency.
During FY 2023-24, the company’s water positivity stood at more than 7 times, verified by an independent agency, due to its water conservation and rainwater harvesting efforts across its operational sites and communities.
Noteworthy measures include the installation of Air Cooled Condensers (ACC), reducing cooling water consumption by 90%, and utilizing treated municipal sewage water for industrial purposes and greenbelt development.
Shree Cement’s ongoing commitment to renewable energy and sustainable practices sets a new benchmark in the industry. As the company plans to expand its production capacity to 80 million tonnes by 2028, it remains dedicated to contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
