365Telugu.com online news, Hyderabad, May 7th,2025: (365Telugu.com state Bureau): In a significant move to crack down on illegal constructions and land encroachments, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) is set to launch its own dedicated police station.

Located within the HYDRAA office premises near Buddha Bhavan, the new police station will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy tomorrow (Thursday).

This development, mirroring the existing dedicated units for disaster response (DRF) and fire services, is expected to significantly bolster HYDRAA’s ability to take swift and effective action against unauthorized activities.

The police station will be headed by ACP P. Thirumal, who has been appointed as the Station House Officer (SHO). The initial staff will comprise six inspectors, 12 sub-inspectors, and 30 constables. Housed in a G+2 building spanning approximately 10,500 square feet, the new facility is equipped with modern amenities.

Direct Handling of Encroachment Cases:

The HYDRAA police station will directly register and investigate criminal cases related to the encroachment of government lands, spaces designated for public use, parks, roads, lakes, and canals. Empowered with specific jurisdiction, the station will also have the authority to arrest offenders.

Furthermore, cases will be filed against individuals involved in dumping soil in water bodies and government lands, as well as those engaged in its illegal transportation.

This will extend beyond just the transporters to include the contractors involved and the construction companies receiving the illegally sourced soil. Action will also be taken against those directly discharging sewage into lakes.

Focus on Unmasking the Masterminds:

A key objective of the HYDRAA police station will be to identify and bring to justice the masterminds behind land encroachments. This includes individuals who orchestrate the construction of makeshift dwellings by the poor to later seize the land.

The station will also target those involved in creating fake documents and manipulating layouts to grab government land. Violations of the WALTA Act and fire safety regulations will be directly investigated and prosecuted through this new facility.

Stringent measures will be taken against those who encroach upon roads and public spaces within layouts, as well as owners of unauthorized hoardings. The illegal transportation of sand and unauthorized constructions will also fall under their purview.

Standing Up for the Common Citizen:

The HYDRAA police station will also address grievances of ordinary citizens, particularly in cases where individuals in layouts encroach upon neighboring plots and alter approved layouts.

They will investigate instances of encroachment on roads, parks, and common plots within layouts, ensuring justice for the affected parties. Based on complaints received through public forums, the police will conduct on-the-ground assessments and take action against those responsible.

HYDRAA has already been instrumental in safeguarding hundreds of acres of government land, lakes, parks, and canals. Over 50 pending cases related to these encroachments, previously handled by various police stations, will now be transferred to the dedicated HYDRAA police station. The primary goal is to delve into the root causes of the problems and ensure that encroachers are brought to justice with solid evidence.
