Directed by the visionary K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner, the film will return to theatres in both 2D and 3D remastered versions.
Originally released on May 9, 1990, the film became a socio-fantasy phenomenon, setting new benchmarks in Indian cinema. One of the most remarkable memories of its initial run was the black-ticket frenzy, where a Rs. 6 ticket reportedly sold for Rs. 210—an early testament to its cult status.
Chiranjeevi’s portrayal of a humble tourist guide and Sridevi’s divine role as Indraja captured the hearts of millions. The supporting cast included industry greats like Amrish Puri, Allu Ramalingaiah, Brahmanandam, Baby Shalini, and many more.
Producer Ashwini Dutt recalled Chiranjeevi shooting the energetic ‘Dinakutta’ song while battling a 106-degree fever, highlighting his dedication. The team wrapped up the shoot in two days, accommodating Sridevi’s tight international schedule. Afterward, Chiranjeevi was hospitalized for 15 days.
